YouTube Music Now Lets You Customize Playlist Art With AI Generated Images
YouTube Music has launched a new feature that allows users to personalize their playlist covers with AI-generated art. Previously, playlist artwork consisted of an auto-generated collage made up of the first four song covers. Now, users can tap into generative AI to create customized images representing their playlists.
The process is simple. When viewing a playlist, tap the new pen icon in the bottom right corner. Select an image category like animals, food, colors or nature. Then choose from randomized prompts or pick your own, such as requesting a "pug in the style of a medieval painting." The AI will generate five options to choose from. Save your selection and the new art becomes the face of that playlist.
For now, the AI art feature is only available for YouTube Music users in the US with English accounts. However, YouTube says a global rollout to more regions and languages is coming soon. The change gives listeners more control over visualizing their music tastes without requiring uploaded images.
In other YouTube Music app updates, a new "speed dial" function will place frequently played content on the home page for quicker access. The company is also testing social features like video snippets and comments. As it competes with top streamers, YouTube Music continues optimizing the experience to better engage fans and discoverability. This latest AI integration is a creative way for listeners to put their unique stamp on playlists in a streamlined, visual manner.
