Great news, OpenAI fans! The popular AI company has launched an official iOS app for ChatGPT. Now you can chat with the friendly bot on the go. The new app is free to download, has no ads, and even lets you talk to ChatGPT using your voice. For now, the app is only available in the U.S., but OpenAI says they will roll it out to more countries over the next few weeks.
If you’ve used the ChatGPT website before, your conversation history will carry over to the app. The app uses OpenAI’s Whisper speech recognition technology, so you can just say what’s on your mind instead of typing. ChatGPT Plus subscribers will get access to the latest AI models and faster response times through the app. A subscription costs $20 per month.
Tech companies like Google, Microsoft and Facebook have been working hard on AI. Some, like Google and Microsoft, have even started using AI in their search engines. But OpenAI’s new app lets you talk with ChatGPT without going through a search engine. And unlike some other AI apps, ChatGPT's app has no ads. OpenAI says their app gives you “instant answers without sifting through ads or multiple results.” Even the app description in the App Store plays up the "ad-free" experience.
The launch of OpenAI’s app comes just days after Google lifted the waitlist on their own AI chatbot, called Bard, to everyone. Recent research shows people really want to use AI apps like ChatGPT. In March, the top 10 AI apps for iPhones brought in over $14 million, and people were spending 11% more per day on them compared to February.
With a simple, ad-free experience and the chance to talk with such a clever bot, OpenAI’s new ChatGPT app is sure to be a hit.
Give the friendly AI a try and see what kinds of fun conversations you can have!
