Meta Embracing AI To Improve Facebook, Instagram

Mark Zuckerberg revealed plans to incorporate generative artificial intelligence into Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. This technology allows users to create different types of content using AI algorithms.

During an internal meeting, Zuckerberg shared Meta's plans to integrate AI text, image and video generators into its apps. The move comes as Meta pushes into metaverse tech and aims to transform user experiences.

For example, users may be able to edit photos with text prompts before sharing on Instagram. AI chatbots with different personalities could also be added to Messenger and WhatsApp to provide support.

Zuckerberg is enthusiastic about including this tech in all Meta products. However, the timeline for rolling out these features is unclear.

Meta executives also discussed using generative AI in the metaverse. The company plans to give employees AI tools to prototype ideas and is hosting a hackathon to spur AI project development.

Meta remains committed to contributing to open-source AI research. However, the meeting did not mention concerns raised by senators about potential misuse of Meta's AI models.

Separately, Meta recently told staff they must work in the office three days a week from September, following similar moves by Amazon and Google.
