Google Launches Enhanced Gemini 2.0 AI Models with New Features
Flash, Flash-Lite and Pro | Gemini 2.0 is now available to everyone
Google has unveiled multiple updates to its Gemini AI model lineup, introducing new versions with enhanced capabilities and broader accessibility. The tech giant announced general availability of Gemini 2.0 Flash, alongside two new variants - Flash-Lite and Pro Experimental.
The updated 2.0 Flash, now accessible through the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and Vertex AI, allows developers to build production applications. This model features a context window of 1 million tokens and supports multimodal reasoning across large information sets.
The newly introduced 2.0 Pro Experimental stands out for its superior coding performance and ability to process complex prompts. With an expanded context window of 2 million tokens, it offers improved understanding and reasoning capabilities. This version is now available to developers through Google AI Studio and Vertex AI, as well as to Gemini Advanced users on both desktop and mobile platforms.
Another addition to the lineup is the 2.0 Flash-Lite, designed for cost-efficiency while maintaining quality. This model surpasses its predecessor, 1.5 Flash, in benchmark performance while keeping similar speed and cost parameters. It can process up to 1 million tokens and handle multimodal inputs effectively.
Google emphasizes its commitment to safety and security with these releases. The company has implemented new reinforcement learning techniques and automated testing systems to assess potential risks, including protection against indirect prompt injection attacks.
The company plans to roll out additional features, including image generation and text-to-speech capabilities, in the coming months.
