In a breakthrough move, Google Ads announced a new AI generated ad tool that will automatically create ad campaigns for advertisers.
The new tool uses large language models and generative AI to produce ad content based on business prompts given by marketers. Advertisers simply provide landing pages, best performing queries and approved ad headlines, and the AI tool crafts entirely new creative ads.
Dan Taylor, Google Ads VP, said the tool learns from existing approved ads to generate new ones. He believes AI can have a major impact for marketers by optimizing bidding, budgets, audiences, creatives and attribution - potentially raising conversions by up to 18%.
Google stressed its commitment to user privacy amid rising regulations. A survey showed 8 in 10 consumers care about online privacy and data security, and 70% would stop engaging with brands that violate their trust around data.
Features like Privacy Sandbox aim to balance user privacy and business needs on Chrome and Android. Taylor said Google is working "constructively" with regulators to address concerns while avoiding conflicts between consumers and advertisers.
He noted Google has innovated on AI tools for over a decade. Though public discourse on AI is relatively new, the tech giant has been building AI capabilities to help businesses and consumers.
